Do I need a password?

I hope everyone is enjoying the new look of our web site. I In this week’s meeting I was discussing the new web site and the question came up ‘Do I need a password?’. The easy answer is you don’t need a password, but when you see what a password lets you do you’ll want one. Shreveportbonsai.org provides access to articles and pictures for the general web surfing public but also provides additional features for dues paying SBS members. Unregistered visitors can view stories, certain pages and the gallery. Registered visitors have those same privileges plus they can comment on content, search content and vote in polls.

Registered SBS members have access to create entries in the bonsai blog. This is a running journal of activities related to bonsai. So far I’m the only member using it. I think it will help me in the long run. SBS members also have access to advanced search, can create polls, access user profiles and member list. All you need to do to have SBS member access is to send an email to president@shreveportbonsai.org. Provide your web site username, your membership status will be verified and privileged access will be granted within a day or two.

We are always looking for articles to put on the web site. If you are inclined to make such a contribution I can grant additional privileges that will allow you to submit your own material. All submitted material including blog entries is subject to review and deletion by the web site manager. An in depth how-to article to help people use the blog module is coming soon.
